American Airlines - Sans Vignelli Eagle Logo - Announces Proposed US Airways Merger

Last month, American Airlines rolled out its new aircraft paint scheme.  Last week, American announced its proposed merger with US Airways.  The merger will make the "new" American the world's largest airline.  Sadly, the American Airlines' eagle logo designed by Massimo Vignelli 45 years ago is not part of new American.  While I remain optimistic about the merger, I hope the British Airways' type paint scheme adopted by new American does not become the next "New Coke."  If so, maybe new American will add "Classic" to the BA style paint scheme until the Vignelli eagle returns.
