Lindy Thackson Past IndyCar Reporter and Fox59 Anchor

Good morning it’s Christmas  Day.  Hope Santa was good to everyone.

Going through my photos I found a shot I’d taken of Lindy Thackston.

Who remembers her?

I meet her when she was a pit reporter for Versus covering IndyCar and the Indy 500.

Her Indy roots go way back.  She grew up listening to the Indy 500 and was an Indy 500 Princess in 2001.  She also did social media for Ed Carpenter Racing and was a trackside reporter for Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s public announcement system.

After racing she joined and later became a morning anchor at FOX59 News in Indianapolis.  Earlier this year Lindy was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer.  She missed work for treatment.  Three months after returning to work it was announced that the cancer had spread to her lungs.  In the middle of October she had surgery removing half of her lung.  After surgery she announced, “they got all the cancer out!”

Checking on Lindy’s health, there wasn’t any additional information about her beyond October on the Internet.  Hopefully, she is doing well.  I went to her Facebook page and saw that for her birthday (Nov 29th), she drove the Dallara simulator.  That has to be a good sign.

Any of you Indianapolis locals or Lindy friends have more information that can be publicly shared?

Merry Christmas  Lindy.  I’m wishing you the very best.
